Kamila Kokoszynska – Fine Artist
Kamila Kokoszynska is a fine artist and a graphic designer (BFA) residing in the Washington DC metropolitan area. She was born in the mountainous region of southern Poland. Her passion for art started at the age of five and has been constantly growing. Inspired by her great grandmother, a local painter, she joined the local art league at the Culture Center (Bielsko-Biala) for ten years. She was introduced to the process of professional painting and drawing, including the techniques of Old Masters. Kokoszynska continued training under the guidance of accomplished visual artists. Her works were influenced by Claude Monet, Van Gogh and Salvador Dali. At the age of 19, Kamila decided to move to the United States to pursue her art education. She was chosen as the Vice-President of the Art League at Montgomery College. In that capacity, she helped organize art events and fundraisers, most notably the Katrina Victims Fundraiser. In 2005 Kokoszynska was chosen for the solo show as the “Most Promising Artist” and she became a member of the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA. Constantly painting in her studio and studying art, she participated and sold her works in local art shows in DC, MD and VA.
In 2012, Kokoszynska obtained her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. The University of the District of Columbia awarded Kokoszynska with three years of Merit-Based, Talent and International scholarships for her creative talent. She paints mainly in acrylics, but sometimes she applies other techniques such as oil, watercolor, tempera and dry pastel. Her style is a combination of expressive realism, abstract and impressionism. Her travel to Greece, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Switzerland, Austria among visiting other countries affected her works and became a significant source for her inspiration. In 2015 Kokoszynska was juried to become a resident artist at Visarts Gallery and was awarded a studio space by the city of Rockville. She continues to grow and paint in her studio. Kokoszynska’s art is collected in the US and Europe.

Artist About Her Art
“Painting is my form of prayer, contemplation and gratitude. I love sharing the joy of art. I started painting 25 years ago and I haven’t stopped since. My art celebrates beauty, vision, existence and emotion. I always found it fascinating how the same subject can be perceived differently depending on our life experiences, age and mood. To the traditional styles of painting, I incorporate my own style of expressive realism and impressionism. I use wet-to-wet, glazing and impasto techniques. My paintings evolve with me and are exploration of human existence. It feels like a visual diary that I’m excited to share with others.
Being born and raised in a town surrounded with the majestic Carpathian Mountains and rivers, hiking on numerous trails with my mom strongly influenced my works. I was always fascinated by nature because of it’s astounding beauty, poetry, perfection and purity. Currently, I am working on my Asseteague and Chincoteague Island Series which explore richness and astounding beauty of those National Parks. I travel there couple of times a year during different seasons to paint plein aires. I want my art to become a timeless escape from stress, where people can find happiness and inspiration.”
